Week 13 revisted: The reveal!

I got these pictures from Sara earlier this week. This is her daughter Francine, who is 2 months older than Squeaker. She is SUCH a cutie!
Sara and Bob were very excited to be award winners!  I even got a mention on their blog, it made me feel a little bit famous.
I have to say, that this one is my favorite. It's only a matter of time before my attempts to make Squeaker model a hat end up looking like this.

Thanks for the pictures Francine!

Take care,
Kate

Week 14: Egg-tastic!

I finished this hat Saturday morning, so Squeaker was able to wear it all Easter weekend!

It totally looks like an Easter Egg, complete with zig-zags

stripes, and dots. Just like in Mrs. Noreen's first grade class.

As always, Squeaker was an excellent model. We like this one because he looks like he's Santa Claus holding his belly and laughing.

And I have mixed feelings about this one--he looks so cute, but he also looks like such a little boy and not just a baby.

This is what was on the back of his pants:

Love it!

Take care,
Kate

Week 14: Easter Eggs

Remember when you were a kid around Easter time and your teacher would give everyone sheets with pictures of Easter eggs for you to color in?  The more garish the colors the better.

What was with the zig zag? I drew it on every single Easter egg picture I ever colored. Cartoon Easter eggs are the inspiration for this week's hat. I have hopes that it will embody the essence of the crayon-art Easter eggs.

We'll see how it goes!

Kate

Week 13: Francine's Bunny Hat

Dear Francine,
I hope you love the hat I made for you! You and Squeaker have the same size head, so hopefully it fits well. Squeaker looked adorable modeling it--I'm sure you will look fabulous in it too.  Ask your mom and dad to send me pictures, I can't wait to see how cute you are!

It has a sweet little pompom tail.....

And two perfect little bunny ears.....

If I didn't know better, I'd think a bunny had sneaked into the house.

Watch your mailbox Francine, your package is hopping down the bunny trail!

Take care,
Kate

Week 13: College Fund

I've decided to put the money I make from this year-long project into Squeaker's college fund. I've actually sold a handful of patterns and last week I received a commission to make a donkey hat for my supervisor's soon-to-be grandnephew. Hurray! The fund now has enough to pay for a 1/4 of a textbook!

Take care,
Kate

Week 12: Here Piggy, Piggy, Piggy.....

Oh, so cute!  The girls who stopped by to pick up the hat for the raffle table were very excited. Hopefully this oinkerific hat went to a good home.

It turned out well. Complete with ears, snout,  and perfect piggy little tail.
This is the first one where I've used buttons for the eyes. I think they look great, but I used safety snaps just in case--I now see everything as a potential choking hazard.

Squeaker modeled it at about 6:15 Friday morning. It was the only way I'd be able to have a picture with him wearing it. He didn't seem to mind the early hour photo shoot.

Week 12 "Business" Cards

Hello all! I finished the hat last night and had Squeaker model it this morning. I plan to have pictures posted tonight or tomorrow. It's pretty oinktacular!  Pink ears, pink tail, pink snout.....

I made up little "business" cards with my blog and etsy info to set on the raffle table with my hat. I attached one to the ear too, a piggie hangtag. The site where I made the cards is super cute and you can print them out at home for free! Sweet. I love free.
Take care!

Week 12: And the winner is....

FRANCINE!!
The winning haiku:

springtime renweal
gray leaves and color arrives
make francine the hat

I laughed outloud when I read it. The lovely daughter of Sara and Bob will be receiving her very own Easter hat shortly. I did say it was this week's hat, but that was a small lie--it will actually be next week's hat. Francine will still have it in plenty of time for Easter.  Sara--measure Francine's noggin and let me know!

This week's hat is going to be for a raffle at work. The Porcine Interest Group--or PIG--is having their annual "Pig Out" picnic and I'm going to donate a pig hat for their table. Super exciting!

Take care,
Kate

Week 11: Little Bunny Foo-Foo

So, JM doesn't think it looks like a bunny head. I do. My first attempt, now that looked nothing like a rabbit. It looked like a purple and white blob. This, however, looks like a string of bunny faces!  Yikes, designing intarsia patterns that actually look like what there supposed to is harder than I expected.

He also said Squeaker looks like a Canadian in this hat. Whaa?

He did agree it is cute, so we have that in common!

Remember, just a few short hours left to enter the "Haiku for Hat" contest!  Good luck!

Remember Week 7?

Well, here's the reveal!  Mr. Boy was in fact able to tell it was an eye--I told you he was a clever one.
His mom is an amazing photographer and someday when my blog becomes a book, Anna's going to take the award-winning photos!

These pictures were actually taken the day I dyed my hair pink--which Anna also did for me. It looks amazing! I'm lucky to have multi-talented friends!
Only a few more days to enter your Easter Haiku!  The deadline is Sunday at midnight.  I'll announce the winner on Monday.

Take care,
Kate
